Lt. Gen. Anwar Ali Hyder, HI(M), (Retd)

With nearly four decades of distinguished military service, Lieutenant General Anwar Ali Hyder (Retired) brings consummate skill and experience in planning, organization and administration to his present assignment. Throughout his distinguished career he held prestigious positions in various command, staff and instructional roles, culminating in the position of Principal Staff Officer to the Chief of Army Staff as Adjutant General of Pakistan Army. A role in which he provided leadership and spearheaded several important welfare initiatives and large-scale commercial projects at the Army and national level, including strategizing the development and growth of Fauji Foundation Companies and serving as the Chairman of Army Welfare Trust.

His extensive experience in Pakistan Army includes noteworthy contributions in planning and development of Defence Housing Authorities (DHAs) all over the country and supervising development and management of countrywide mega housing projects such as Askari Housing Colonies.

He also had the distinctive opportunity of making contributions in the academic domain as President National Defence University and as member of the Board of Governors of NUST, NUMS and NUTECH.

Transitioning seamlessly into civilian leadership role, Lieutenant General Anwar Ali Hyder (Retired) assumed the chairmanship of Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (NAPHDA) and played an important role in the interim Federal Cabinet as the Caretaker Minister for Defence and Defence Production. He also served as a member of the Apex Committee of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), where he made multifaceted contributions to national economic growth initiatives and in the process remained engaged with several public and private sector entities and multinational organizations.

His strategic prowess and commitment to excellence is complimented by his professional and academic qualifications, which include Masters in Strategic Studies from United States Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania and MSc in War Studies from National Defence University, Islamabad. His dedication to duty and meritorious services in Pakistan Army were duly recognized through conferment of the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) by the President of Pakistan.

Mr. Saeed Athar

Saeed Athar is the Founder and Managing Director of Trans Group and has been active in the oil trading and shipping business since 1984 when he founded Trans Group. Trans Group soon established itself as one of the leading agents in Pakistan specializing in Oil Tankers and since inception has gone on to handle over 5000 vessels and 20 Million MT of crude and petroleum, products. 

Over the years Trans Group has represented various principals of international repute such as PetroChina, Kuwait Petroleum, Aramco, Vitol, Glencore, Trafigura, Mitsui, Marubeni, Hyundai, Tsakos, Tanker Pacific, and Shell.

As a trader have been involved in successful deals in various commodities ranging from gasoline, LPG, naphtha, gas oil, crude oil, base oil, lubricants, and coal internationally/

In the year 2000 he ventured into shipbreaking through the formation of Prime Ship Breakers and ASNMCO. The group went on to become one of the largest ship breakers in Pakistan demolishing over 1.8 million MT LDT of oil tankers and bulkers ranging from Handymax to VLCCs.

Ship breaking paved the way for entry into Steel Recycling through the establishment of an arc furnace Aman Steel with a capacity of 60,000 MT/ annum and a re-rolling mill Ayan Steel with a capacity of 36,000 MT/ annum.

In 2010 Gwadar Shipping Services was established as the exclusive stevedores and cargo handlers for Urea at Gwadar Port. Since its inception, the company has handled 4 million MT of cargo at Gwadar Port.

In 2017 identifying the recent rapid increase in POL volumes and the shortage of oil storages in the country. Trans Group has ventured into the development of FTTL Oil Storage Terminals in Port Qasim in a joint venture with Fauji Foundation.

Most recently he has been steering the company towards renewable energy with a focus on Bio-Energy using indigenous alternate fuel sources such as agricultural and animal waste.

Mr. Syed Bakhtiyar Kazmi

Mr. Kazmi is a fellow chartered accountant with over 35 years of experience in a diverse range of sectoral and functional strata within national and regional economies. The key areas of his specialization are fiscal policy and macroeconomic research, greenfield and brownfield projects, strategic collaborations, mergers and acquisitions, outliers in accounting and finance, strategic level audit and assurance and tax reforms and strategic level advisory. Mr. Kazmi served KPMG for 35 years; last 25 years as a partner. As a partner he interacted with the leadership in almost every industry, understanding their vision, their insights, and most importantly on their business strategies. His rigorous exposure to a diverse range of sectors and projects, enabled him to conceive and culminate strategic value additions for his clients, pertaining to public and private sector organizations. He successfully implemented a comprehensive service delivery framework that ensures quality assured service provision to KPMG’s clients, and a cross-functional integration with the advisory and taxation services that allowed a robust and comprehensive service delivery package to the clients. As an auditor and an advisor, Mr. Kazmi successfully delivered his promise of providing best-in-class and integrity driven services. With his career progression, he branched into macroeconomic research with a focus on contributing towards fiscal and regulatory policies of Pakistan. He almost single-handedly established advisory practice of KPMG in Islamabad about 2 decades ago which today arguably is the go to advisory in Islamabad. This initiative covered financial projections, feasibilities, information memorandums, internal audit assessments, HR assessments, manuals for processes and controls, valuations, and development advisory which included an assessment of the Punjab and Sindh governments. Mr. Kazmi has served on a number of diverse forums / Boards in the Private Sector, Public Sector & Civil Society Organization and regularly publishes in reputable dailies. He is member of Audit and Investment Committees of FFC.

Brig Irfan Khan, T.Bt (Retd)

Brig Irfan Khan joined Fauji Group on April 01, 2023. He has been appointed as Secretary Committee of Administration, Fauji Foundation on 17 Jan 2024.

He was commissioned in Pakistan Army in 1993 having graduated from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, UK. He had a distinguished career of 30 years and served on various command, staff and instructional appointments. He is a graduate of Command and Staff College, Quetta, Higher Military Academy Damascus and National Defence University Islamabad, besides attending various professional courses abroad.

He holds Masters degree in Art and Science of Warfare and Certificate in Arabic Language to his credit.

In recognition of his meritorious service, he was awarded Tamgha-e-Basalat (T.Bt).

He also holds certification of Director’s Training Program from Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG) along with numerous short courses on Management, HR, ESG, Disaster / Conflict Management and Leadership.

Mr. Ayan Saeed

Ayan Saeed joined Trans Group in 2015 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce with High Distinction specializing in Finance and Economics from the Rotman School of Commerce.

Currently serving as Director Commercial of the Group he has contributed to increasing group profitability by enhancing revenue streams and increasing the network of international and local clients.

Heading the trading arm of the group which has grown into one of the top 3 suppliers of petroleum products to Pakistan and is actively working with international suppliers for supply to OMC such as PSO, Attock Petroleum, Total Parco, Puma, and Cynergico. Is also responsible for the group venturing into local trading of LPG, motor gasoline, diesel, and allied products.

Leading the port operations and logistics team that developed an end-to-end solution for National Refinery for transportation, handling, and export loading for NRL’s Bitumen export. Designed and constructed the first-of-its-kind mobile bitumen export terminal, which resulted in a major commercial advantage for NRL as they were able to reduce their excess Furnace Oil and enhance Bitumen for exports effectively and economically.

Currently, he is working on developing the mining of gypsum, iron ore, and other commodities along with the development of converting animal waste into Bio Gas.

Mr. Masood Karim Sheikh

Masood Karim Shaikh is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) with over 30 years of senior level experience in financial sector in Pakistan. He retired in 2017 as SEVP and Group Chief, International Banking Group at National Bank of Pakistan. He was managing their International Operations in 18 countries in Far East, Central Asia, Middle East, Europe and America. In his previous assignment with National Bank of Pakistan he held key executive responsibilities as CFO and Group Chief Corporate and Investment Banking. He has also worked with Dubai Islamic Bank-Pakistan as Country Head Corporate and Investment Banking. His other previous assignments were with Emirates Bank International, Mashreq Bank and MCB Bank in various positions as CFO, Head of Treasury and Head of Card Division. He has served on Boards of following Financial institutions and Corporations:

United National Bank plc.UK, (UBL UK) Siemens Pakistan, National Fullerton Asset Management Fund (Chairman, NAFA), Atlas Power, Taurus Securities and Maple Leaf Cement.

    Mr. Zafar Alam

    Zafar Alam is an entrepreneur by nature with extensive business experience encompassing the past 35 years in marketing and business development.

    Started in the textile industry in the mid-eighties with a vision to develop value-added products from Pakistan. Successfully branding and selling to major retailers in Scandinavia, Europe, and USA.

    With the advent of the digital age, the group partnered with NCR Corporation of USA to start a state-of-the-art document printing facility in Pakistan. In collaboration with NCR, he was instrumental in setting up the strategic national gateway project of 1 LINK.

    With a passion for clean and green energy, a joint venture was started with UPM of Germany to develop the carbon credit market in Pakistan. With the current energy crisis, he is now focused on developing alternate fuels through agricultural and bio-waste.
